BENNY THE BULL: THE GREATEST MASCOT THERE EVER WAS
In the world of sports mascots, there have been some absolute bludgers in our time.
I mean, who could forget the terrifying image of MC Hammerhead, the nightmare-fuelled mascot of the Cronulla Sharks. Or the seemingly last-minute idea of the Stanford Tree, the mascot of Stanford University's marching band that has become somewhat of an unofficial mascot of the university itself. Or our old mate Pinging, the mascot of Super Rugby's Sunwolves, who looks like he's well and truly on the arse-end of a bender.
But then sometimes, a mascot comes along that revolutionises the game.
Someone (or something) that actually adds to the entertainment value of a sporting fixture, instead of detracting from it. That actually does what you assume is what mascots are for, and that's G'ing up the home crowd to help support the home team.
And sometimes, just sometimes, a mascot comes along that actually steals the limelight from the overpaid athletes themselves and puts on a show for the ages. And that mascot is... Benny The Bull.
